For applicants who have a genuine relationship with a New Zealand Citizen or Resident
Requirements:
- Partner or Spouse
Marriage, De-facto partner of 2 years, Homosexual partnership of 2 years. The New Zealand Sponsor must live permanently and legally in NZ and be able to show financial support.
- Dependent Children
Definition of dependent child expanded to financially dependent children up to & including 24 years.
- Parent
'Centre of Gravity' and 'alone in home country' principles remain. Now expanded to include grandparents or legal guardians, where the parents are deceased.
- Siblings & Adult Children
Who have no parents or siblings living in the same country as them. They are now required to obtain an offer of employment in New Zealand, and be sponsored by an immediate family member in New Zealand.
- Sponsors
Must be New Zealand residents or citizens who have lived in New Zealand for 3 years (the majority of time) to be eligible to be sponsors of less dependent relatives.
