The employer needs to show efforts made to recruit local New Zealand citizen or residents and the reasons why there are no New Zealand local people suitable to fill that position or be trained for the position.

Advertising in the national newspaper or using a recruitment company.

Evidence of qualifications and work experience to do the job.

Immigration Department will usually do a Labour Market Check before approving your work visa.
Work Visas on relationship grounds

Work Visas can be obtained for the spouse or partner of a person who has obtained a work permit.

Work Visas can be applied for by persons who are married or in a de facto relationship with a New Zealand resident AND their partner is currently in New Zealand.

Work visas can be applied for by persons who are engaged to a New Zealander, AND who intend to come to New Zealand to marry within the 9 months.
